The booking and the units that carry it
A booking in DGAssistant is a master consignment: it keeps the booking number, the master document, the origin and destination, the nominated trip and the consignments that travel under it. Attaching a consignment to it does not copy any data, it links it, so what the shipper declared is what the manifest prints.
The transport units are the containers, vehicles and trailers that carry the load. Each one records its identification —with the check digit of the ISO 6346 number verified—, the ISO type, the seals, the tare and the gross mass, and, when it applies, the fumigation and the coolant.
- Part loads: a consignment may travel split between several units, and each unit records how many packages of each line it carries.
- Shared units: a unit of another booking may carry part of your load, and the container list says whose it is.
- Reefer containers, fumigated units and units with a coolant, with the data that the IMDG code requires for each case.
Segregation checked before the door is closed
Before a unit is sealed, the application checks the segregation of everything inside it: the classes that may not travel together, the ones that need separation and the special provisions that apply to the pair.
The result is a verdict —permitted, permitted with conditions or prohibited— with the rule that produces it and the two lines that it affects. If the content changes afterwards, the check is marked as out of date so that nobody signs a certificate that no longer describes the load.
The packing certificate, signed with what really went in
The container or vehicle packing certificate of IMDG 5.4.2 states that the unit was loaded according to the code. DGAssistant only offers it when the checks that support it are green: the transport document of every consignment issued, the segregation checked and not prohibited, the marking produced and the packages accounted for.
The certificate carries the company, the declarant with their position, the place and the date, and it is issued together with the multimodal dangerous goods form when the unit travels by sea.
